Meriadoc Brandybuck, also known as Merry, is a main character in The Lord of the Rings. Merry is part of the Fellowship of the Ring and one of its youngest members trying to find his place in this world. He is portrayed by Dominic Monoghan.

Early life[]
Merry was born in the Shire to Saradoc Brandybuck and Esmeralda Took. He became best friends with his cousin Pippin Took, Frodo Baggins, and Sam Gamgee.
Bilbo's 111th Birthday[]
Merry developed a plan that involves him and Pippin stealing one of Gandalf's firecrackers in hopes of getting in all kinds of mischef at Bilbo's 111th birthday party. However, their plan literally backfires when Pippin sticks the firecracker inside rather than the outside. Just as the two of them are about to get another, Gandalf comes up from behind and makes them do chores by cleaning the dirty plates. Merry and Pippin later steal from Farmer Maggot's crops and collide with Frodo and Sam and follow them to Bree, where they find Aragorn rather than Gandalf himself.
